Francisco Aguilar (Málaga, 1959) is a Spanish painter and engraver. He studied and graduated in Advertising Drawing at the EAA in Malaga. He presented his first exhibition in 1979, at the age of 21, in the old Caja de Antequera Room. Years later, he creates and manages his own workshop "Gravura" where besides doing creative work he also develops formative activity with courses of intaglio engraving and edition and printing of graphic work.
He is the founder of Estampa, International Contemporary Engraving Exhibition, which has been held in the city of Madrid since 1993. He has shown his work in numerous exhibitions in Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Cuba, Brussels, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Poland, Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan, Argentina, and the United States.
His work is present in different collections and has been distinguished in numerous awards and competitions such as First Prize XIII Contest 'Máximo Ramos', Prize of Engraving in the II Spanish Contest of Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture in Madrid, Prize Museum of Spanish Engraving Contemporary of Marbella or the National Prize of Engraving National Calcography
