José Hernández was a Spanish painter and artist born in Morocco in 1944.
He started working in graphic art highlighting his work as an illustrator of books with engravings for books by artists such as Joyce, Rimbaud and for texts by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, Juan Ramón or Jiménez Federico García Lorca.
He exhibited both individually and collectively in Spain (A.R.C.O), Paris (F.I.A.C), in Morocco in its beginnings, South America and the USA. He also participated in theater projects as a set and costume designer in works by illustrious Spanish artists such as Valle-Inclán or Calderón de la Barca and in operas by composer Manuel Falla.
He died in 2013 after suffering a long illness.
